Can we be honest? We all like to have certain things done a certain way, but we all know that one colleague, supervisor or intern who is easily thrown off when things don’t go as planned.
Well, The Lowdown, a blog by Jonathan Low, addressed this common occurrence in the article “Why Attitude Is More Important Than IQ”. The piece discusses the pros of a growth mentality and the cons to a fixed mindset. The article references Travis Bradberry about the subject.
“Common sense would suggest that having ability, like being smart, inspires confidence. It does, but only while the going is easy. The deciding factor in life is how you handle setbacks and challenges. People with a growth mindset welcome setbacks with open arms.”
To remain progressive and growing, the following tips were given:
- Don’t Stay Helpless
- Be Passionate
- Take Action
- Go The Extra Mile
- Expect Results
- Be Flexible
- and Don’t Complain When Things Don’t Go Your Way
